Sykes Emergency Department
Staffed 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, the Sykes Emergency Department (ED) at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth treats more than 50,000 patients each year. Specialty-trained, board-certified physicians and emergency nursing staff have the expertise to diagnose and treat a wide spectrum of injured or ill patients.
A permanent helipad is available to provide the rapid transfer of the most critically ill patients to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center or another tertiary care center in Boston.
A Team Approach
When you come to the ED you will find a team of professionals, including board-certified emergency physicians and nurses working hand-in-hand to improve your health. The BID-Plymouth Emergency Department depends on the skills, expertise and collaboration of countless physicians, providers, employees and administrators.
BID-Plymouth ED nurses are Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) providers and many have advanced training in pediatrics and trauma. Many ED nurses are also Certified Emergency Nurses (CEN) through the National Emergency Nurses’ Association.

The ED staff is committed to providing you with the highest quality of care in a private and comfortable setting.
